Music fans can kick back to the sounds of some of South Lakeland’s best known bands in the beautiful surroundings of the gardens of Kendal’s Brewery Arts Centre this summer.

The Brewery’s free Summer Sundays music programme opened on Sunday with an open-air performance by Catdog.

The Summer Sundays music programme continues at the arts centre over the next few weeks, with the timetable including:

* August 5, 1pm to 4pm – The Steve Williams Most Wanted Band;

* August 12, 1pm to 4pm – Greater Manchester Police Big Band;

* August 19, 1pm to 4pm – SLDC Soundsystem;

* August 26, 1pm to 4pm – Fabulous Picasso Brothers.

Visitors will also be able to buy a tasty treat from the special summer barbecue, with a sizzling hot menu featuring local produce prepared by the chefs from the Brewery’s Grain Store restaurant.

Brewery chief executive Richard Foster said: “The Summer Sundays programme is a popular event on the Brewery’s calendar, and last year the gardens were packed with people enjoying the music and the atmosphere.

“Summer Sundays is a completely free event, and is our way of saying thank you to the people of South Lakeland for their continued support for the Brewery Arts Centre throughout the year.”

In the event of bad weather, the events will be held indoors in the Brewery’s Malt Room.
