The gates of Lancaster Castle will be open seven days a week following a launch event over the bank holiday weekend.
For the first time in history, members of the public will be able to enter the courtyard between 10am and 5pm daily, and there will be food and drinks available from a brand new cafe/restaurant.
Nice bar and restaurant will be launching Nice at the castle and castle tours will also start from the courtyard.
Francesca Lewis, general manager at Nice, said the new developments were extremely exciting for Lancaster.
She said: “The menu will have a British theme and we’ll also be making picnics up so people can enjoy the new grassed area inside the courtyard.
“We’re delighted and honoured that the Duchy has asked us to do this, and we have plenty of other plans for events over the next two years.” The castle will open over the bank holiday weekend, where there will be lots to do for families, and the John o’Gaunt gate will be open daily from then.
Francesca added: “There’s lots going on behind the gates at the moment and we can’t wait for the launch weekend. There will be nothing else like this in the north west of England.”
