The new event is set to raise money for Galloway’s Society for the Blind.

Not only is the race being hosted by Lancaster Castle, but participants will also have the unique opportunity to register for the race and explore the castle’s infamous ‘A-Wing’ before they are then challenged to make their run for freedom.

The 10K and Half Marathon races will start outside the castle walls, with both races finishing inside the castle courtyard area.

A donation from each entry will go towards helping the Morecambe-based charity support local people living with visual impairments.

Participants are also being strongly encouraged to raise additional funds for Galloway’s through sponsorship.

Event organiser Bill Gardner said: “This event is something we have wanted to do for a long time and we hope it will bring the people of Lancaster together as well as showcasing how fantastic Lancaster is to visit.”

Anna Scott, north Lancashire fundraiser for Galloway’s, said: “We are delighted that Bill and his team have chosen to support Galloway’s with this event.

“The money raised by this unique event will allow us to continue to provide advice and support to blind and partially sighted people of all ages.”
