Renovation works worth £200,000 have now been completed at an Arnside pub.

Following a complete overhaul of the Ye Olde Fighting Cocks in 2013, a derelict barn attached to the property has been converted into seven new luxury bedrooms.

The renovation of the Thwaites owned pub means it can now accommodate disabled guests and families in its new two-bedroom apartment.

Landlord Tony Keates said: “The barn conversion now brings the pub’s guest accommodation up to 18 rooms – which will be fantastic for the summer as we’re always overbooked! We’re thrilled with how the renovation has gone and hope our customers will welcome the improvements as much as we do.”

Tony, and Jeanette Hamer, who have been licensees for 17 months, have also renovated the pub’s current 11 guest suites and modernised bathroom facilities. These latest works follow significant renovations to the pub, including a complete makeover of the bar area and function rooms, new games room, and the building of a new beer garden and children’s play area – complete with a 50 foot Viking Ship.

Tony and Jeanette’s success in developing the pub was recently honoured at the Thwaites Awards for Excellence, where the duo took the Best Newcomer title.
