Sisters are doing it for themselves

A NEW business hopes to create around 50 jobs over the next couple of years after being given the official nod to provide independent home care and support to older people living in Lancaster and South Lakeland.

Caremark (Lancaster & South Lakeland) has opened its doors following successful registration with the Care Quality Commission, which is the regulatory body governing the health and social care industry.

Headed up by sisters and co-owners Alison Hedley, of Hornby, and Susan Westbury, who lives near Kirkby Lonsdale, the business will be offering a broad range of home care and support services, and homes to create around 50 carer jobs as demand for its services grow.

The two sisters, who grew up in Windermere, aim to offer a service which enable customers to remain living independently in their own homes, while providing them with the flexibility to have the care they need, when they need it and as they would like it.

The company is based on the former TDG haulage firm depot site Warton Road, Carnforth, is locally and independently owned but backed by an experienced and reputable Home Care franchisor, Caremark Ltd. Commenting on the vision they have for the business, director Alison Hedley said: “Our aim is to make a difference to people’s lives by enabling them to remain independent in their homes for longer.

“We also aim to build a reputation for giving the customer choice and control over the care provided to them, thus offering the same high standards that you would wish for a member of your own

family.

“In order to do this, we see our care workers as our most valuable asset and want to provide a welcoming and supportive working environment for them as they do such an important job.

“We feel by providing comprehensive training, field support and good career development opportunities, we will become an employer of 
choice for the very best care staff.”

Caremark (Lancaster & South Lakeland) will initially be providing care and support to older people but have future plans to move into the provision of care services for young people and children, having significant professional experience in this area.
