Resident wants action over ‘hovel’ left to rot
Damaged wall at back of derelict house at 26 Hinde Street, off Bulk Road, Lancaster.
A LANCASTER resident has called on the city council to use its powers to ensure a derelict house is brought back into good repair.
Linda Lowerson lives close to the house in Hinde Street, which she says has stood empty for several years and is gradually falling apart.
And she wants the council to take action to prevent the house falling further into disrepair.
Mrs Lowerson said the “hovel” has been “empty and decaying for many years”.
“It is a revolting sight and grossly unfair on those having to live next to it,” she added.
Mrs Lowerson said she first reported the issue to the council two or three years ago, and was told the owners had promised the council they would renovate the property.
