There is a buzz of expectation at the Costain depot at Halton Training Camp this week as staff get ready to start work on the Heysham M6 Link Road.

Lancashire County Council has now effectively handed over the running of the project to the road builder and contractor, which has been busy setting up its depot for staff and machinery.

This week the company’s work includes ongoing archaeological work near Green Lane, finishing touches to the depot off Low Road, and demolition work at Cottams Farm in Caton Road.

Andrew Langley, Costain’s project manager for the link road, said that the company is raring to go with the scheme and looking forward to the technically challenging nature of the project.

There is already a large number of staff on site at the company’s depot, many of whom are from the Morecambe and Lancaster area.
