Optimism at growth in county’s economy

Lancashire’s economy is continuing along the path to recovery, albeit slowly, chamber of commerce bosses say.

The county’s quarterly economic survey said that, despite some key balances weakening in the final part of 2013, overall prospects for growth “look stronger than in the last two years.”

Put together by Lancashire’s three chambers of commerce, the report said the manufacturing sector had again outperformed the service sector in quarter four with further growth in export sales and orders.

Thirty per cent of businesses said that they expect their workforce levels to increase in the next three months.
