A DENTIST and a builder have joined forces to create a new microbrewery, aiming to breathe new life into a semi derelict barn, create jobs and resurrect traditional local beer recipes in the process.

Ian Walsh and Ren Wallbank, from Warton, have been working on plans to convert an old barn on Crag Road in the village into their new business venture, The Old School Brewery.

They are hoping to get their first batch of beer out in November.

Ian, 37, a dentist by trade, has been brewing at home for a number of years as a hobby, and following a few attempts at cider using apples from Ren’s orchard, the duo hit on the idea of creating a new brewery.

“It’s been hard work getting the project off the ground,” said Ian.

“The brewery is to be located in one of the last remaining traditional barns in the village”.
