A LANCASTER bar and nightclub has been given planning permission for a new 80-seat roof terrace overlooking the city.

The Dalton Rooms, in Dalton Square, hopes to have the new space ready for the summer.

The plans include a new corridor on the first floor of the building leading to a terrace with a covered seating area and new bar.

Grant Stringer, who owns the Dalton Rooms as well as Bar 1725 in Market Square, The Lounge in Penny Street and Hustle in Spring Garden Street, said the space afforded good views of the castle and is “a proper sun trap in summer.”

The Dalton Rooms opened in 2010 in the former Walkabout building, and has a nightclub and live music space at the back.

Mr Stringer said: “It’s a great space with one of the best views of the castle.”
