More new homes proposed for Lancaster Leisure Park

Plans to build more new homes in Lancaster have been submitted to the city council.

The second phase of work at Lancaster Leisure Park in Wyresdale Road would see a further 46 new properties built on the site. Miller Homes have submitted the plans for a mix of two, three, four and five bed terraced, semi detached and detached houses, 40 per cent of which will be “affordable homes”.

The proposed site, an unused field, borders Miller Homes’ current development of 71 new homes.

Trees border the site on all sides, with a belt of trees running through the middle of it. There is currently no direct vehicular access into the site however access will be possible once the residential development to the north is completed.

To the south of the site, a total of 2,085sqm of public open space is proposed adjacent to a stream, which also creates a buffer between existing development on Colchester Avenue.

Lancashire Constabulary has recommended a range of security measures, after stating that 28 burglaries have been reported in the area surrounding the development.
