A CONFECTIONERY firm specialising in sweets for vegetarians looks set to double its workforce as it expands in the UK and taps into the US market.
Goody Good Stuff, which recently moved from Salford Quays to new turbine-powered premises on Penrod Way in Heysham, makes gummy sweets using natural fruit and vegetable extracts instead of animal-based gelatine, E numbers and allergens.
The move created two new jobs, but the business hopes to double the size of its six-strong workforce this year if targets are hit.
In the long run, dozens more jobs could be in the offing, with plans to eventually build a factory to produce the sweets.
Managing director Melissa Burton, who was born in New York, but studied business management at Lancaster University and has lived in the area ever since, said she would like it to be built in Heysham.
