LANCASTER Market bosses kicked up a stink after removing sinks from a former butcher’s stall.
Traders on the first floor of the market noticed a foul smell wafting around the building last Friday morning, and learned it emanated from the former butcher’s stall after sinks were removed, exposing the putrid drains below.
Carolyn Smith, from the cheese stall, said: “Business is terrible at the moment, but to make matters worse, we had to put up with this disgusting smell on Friday morning.
“The guy that is opening a new chippy in Common Garden Street took away the sinks, and customers were commenting on the smell.”
