The design, creativity and innovation of a website created by Lancaster based Fat Media has bagged them a prestigious global industry award.

Fat Media was the only British winner in the Web Marketing Association’s award in its “Hotel and Lodging” category, for the website it designed for The Daffodil Hotel & Spa in Grasmere.

Other winners in the same category included US giants, PGA Golf Resort in Florida and the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

The website was judged on its design, creativity, impact, innovation and copywriting, all of which were credited as ‘outstanding.’

John French, account director at Fat Media, said: “We are very proud to receive this award on behalf of our client project team and also of course, The Daffodil Hotel & Spa. The hotel has a clear marketing direction, which has enabled us to create such a stand out website in partnership with them.

“Over the last year, key site statistics have been significantly higher indicating a great example of a results led approach to web design an development.”

The Daffodil Hotel & Spa website was created by Fat Media in 2013 to mark the hotel’s rebirth after a huge refurbishment. An innovative ‘social lounge’ encourages interaction with customers through a wide range of social media channels – all on one landing page.

Judges said: “Overall the aspirational image led design of the site, mobile responsive adaptability, clear menu structure and unique features such as the social lounge have come together to create an industry leading website for an exclusive and successful style focused hotel.”

Laura Wolstenholme, Marketing Manager at the Daffodil Hotel & Spa, said: “We are delighted that our website has received such fantastic international recognition from the IAC. We look forward to developing more innovative projects with (Fat Media) in the future.”

The IAC Awards were established in 1999 and attract entries from some of the world’s top media agencies.
