Lancaster shop owners fear for future

THE owners of a shop affected by long-term roadworks in Lancaster say they fear for their business if better signage isn’t put in place.

Karen Boon, who runs Model and Hobby World in Captains Row, off Owen Road, with her husband Andrew, says United Utilities have not made it clear enough that access is still available to roads near the shop.

United Utilities are carrying out essential sewer system works which meant part of the road leading to Skerton Bridge was made one-way throughout last week.

That is now back to normal, but Lune Street has now been made one-way until next May, with traffic able to turn right from Owen Road.

But Mrs Boon said the signs are not clear enough and are confusing motorists, who believe Lune Street is closed.

“The roadworks are truly horrendous and business has been dead,” she said.
