A company that supplies furniture to retailers around the UK is set to almost double its workforce after receiving free business support.
F Edmondson and Sons, based at the White Lund Industrial Estate, distributes furniture on behalf of European manufacturers, such as Siematic in Germany.
The family firm, founded in 1948, spotted an opportunity to grow its business by improving the efficiency of the service provided to these customers.
It received support from Regenerate Pennine Lancashire, which helped it to find a software developer and partially funded its creation with a £5,000 grant.
The work involved updating Edmondson’s management, accounting and email systems so that they all worked together and were more efficient.
As a result of the new management system, Edmondson, which currently employs 10 people, expects to create up to nine new jobs.
Director Russell Edmondson said: “The support from Regenerate has been invaluable. They enabled us access to finance for the project, which is an innovative step forward for the company.“
“The project will vastly improve the speed at which we can complete orders, so we can take on more work.”
Edmondson received support from Regenerate’s Lancashire Innovation Network programme, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund which helps areas stimulate economic development jobs.
