Jonathan Edwards of Tower House will be protesting against M6 Link in Halton on Sunday when a "Lady Godiva" procession will parade through the village.

“LADY Godiva” will lead Halton residents on a protest march against plans for the Heysham M6 Link which objectors say would see an extra 3,400 vehicles per day travelling through the village centre.

Proposals for the bypass, which are due to be re-submitted next month, include a slip road connecting Halton Road to the proposed Shefferlands roundabout, increasing traffic in Church Brow and Halton Road from 4,600 to 8,000 vehicles per day, but reducing traffic in Low Road, Foundry Lane and over Denny Beck Bridge.

Lancashire County Council said the plans would reduce traffic flows through the village by 2,800 vehicles per day on average, but Mike Jacob, who lives in High Road, said the plans would have a serious impact on the quality of life in Halton.

No, I was not on the horse nor am I an OAP. There were more than 100 protesters of all age ranges as you well know. Hats off to the gentleman on the horse for his self sacrifice on such a freezing cold day. It was done with humour and good nature. A gesture to provoke a response from powers that have decided to ignore ordinary people where other avenues have failed.

Oh Dear me. I never been so embarrassed for anyone as I was for this bunch of elderly protesters . At one point there were more police than protesters and considering it was a protest about more vehicles through our village I was amazed at how many people drove to Halton skate Park .As for the buffoon dressed as lady Godiva I can’t even start to say how ridiculous heshe looked . One thing is for sure if anyone from the local government saw this shambles they would be splitting there sides . I would of found this really funny apart from working out how much of the taxpayers money was spent on policing such a pathetic event
