Food and drink retailer Booths celebrated the best ever results in its 166-year history with a total increase of 6.06 per cent in like for like sales over Christmas.
The chain, which has stores in Scotforth, Garstang, Torrisholme, Carnforth, Milnthorpe and Kirkby Lonsdale, said the figures were down to customers planning ahead and its reserve-and-collect service.
Chairman Edwin Booth said: “We launched our Christmas marketing campaign early this year with the delivery of our Christmas Book, which inspired customers to plan ahead and order early.
“The 180-page book illustrated our Christmas lines beautifully and resulted in a pre-order sales increase of 22 per cent with customers ordering in advance for Christmas Day.”
Sales of alternative Christmas meats such as venison and mutton were also up.
