Three brothers have just taken ownership of a hotel and a caravan park in Morecambe, with big plans for further investment in the area.
The Hill Brothers - Tom, William, and Richard - run over 20 holiday parks across the UK.
The purchase of the former Eidsforth Hotel in Marine Road is their first venture into the hotel industry.
The trio has also purchased Riverside Caravan Park, at Snatchems on the river Lune, which was on the market for £1.75m.
Richard, 33, said his family has been in the caravan park operating business for three generations.
He said: “Our grandfather Joe Hill spent time in Morecambe, and used to run a scrap business here.
“We own over 20 parks around the country from Northumberland to Cornwall and we are looking to buy more parks and more businesses in the area.”
Along with William, 37, and Tom, 40, Richard said the brothers had a hands on approach to running their businesses.
“We bought Riverside Park in early January, and it’s business as usual there,” he said.
“It’s a mixture of static and touring pitches, with amazing views of Lancaster and the river Lune, and we’ll be renovating it, replacing pitches, updating the on-site facilities and repositioning the pitches to make the best of the views.”
The trio bought the 35 bedroom Eidsforth last year, and have re-branded it and renamed it The Morecambe Bay Hotel.
Richard said: “The Eidsforth was one of the earlier hotels in Morecambe. But over recent years it’s suffered from neglect and it was closed down and repossesed. Basically we’ve been bringing it up to today’s standards. This is the first hotel we’ve bought, so it’s a new venture.
“We think there’s a gap in the market in Morecambe for this level of accommodation, and we expect things to get busier when the new road is built. We’ve put in a new heating system, new kitchen, and we’ve completely renovated the bedrooms, and updated all the fire and security systems.
“We’re hoping to make further investments in the area and are looking for hotels, holiday parks and other businesses to invest in.”
The brothers are originally from the Chesire and north Wales area, but relocated to Morecambe recently.
