A Lancaster security firm’s “empathy, knowledge and genuine involvement” at large events has earned them a top industry award.

FGH Security, based at the White Cross Business Park, has just picked up the Best Event Security Team award at the Fire and Security Excellence Awards; the ‘Oscars’ of the security industry.

FGH had already outperformed its competitors by accumulating the highest number of nominations for any one company and outshining both large national, and international, organisations in the process.

This is the fourth Security Excellence Award the company has won and they are quickly emerging as one of the UK’s leading manned security providers.

The awards, now in its sixteenth year, aim to recognise best practice in all areas of the fire and security industry.

The finalists and eventual winners for each of the thirty two categories are chosen by an independent panel of industry experts who appraise in detail each individual nomination.

According to the judges FGH won the award due to “a strong customer service focus, combined with empathy, knowledge and genuine Involvement.”

This was a sentiment echoed by Michael Lever, who is one of the event managers for Manchester Pride and one of FGH’s clients.

He said: “Peter [FGH Security’s Managing Director] and his team have provided the security and stewarding provision for Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend for the past two years.

“The event is one of the UK’s most complex urban events.

“During this time, their forward thinking approach and engagement with our visitors has yielded positive outcomes.

“We are delighted to see their hard work and commitment to the security industry recognised.”

Wesley Downham, FGH’s business director, who attended the awards on behalf of the company said: “I couldn’t be happier and the award is testament to the standards we hold ourselves to, the measurable difference that we make to the businesses and organisations that we work with, and the quality of work that our staff do.

“As always we’re looking to improve even further next year and are looking forward to working with a host of new and existing clients.”

Set up in 2013, FGH Security now has 400 licenced staff across four main divisions; venue security, security guarding, crowd and event management and training.

They have a range of public and private sector clients including Kendal Calling music festival, Revolution Bars, The Albert Hall in Manchester, TNT and a number of councils.

They also provide door security to a number of Lancaster nightspots.
