The boss of Morecambe-based DST Group met the Prime Minister in Downing Street.
Its chairman Russell Sanderson was introduced to David Cameron by Morecambe and Lunesdale MP David Morris on Wednesday.
The company, based on White Lund Industrial Estate, has developed significantly over the years, manufacturing and distributing plumbing products across the globe.
Mr Morris said the Prime Minister was keen to hear more about the engineering firm.
He said: “Russell has turned what started off as a family business into a major player in the specialist engineering products market.
“He’s an inspirational man and a very clever businessman. Russell makes a significant contribution to our local economy.”
DST Group also supplies its products to major projects in the UK.
It has seen its business, which started out as a family venture, grow in recent years into a major exporter all over the world.
Mr Cameron is no stranger to Morecambe after visiting businesses in December to announce the go-ahead for the Heysham M6 Link Road, which is predicted to bring big benefits to the local economy. More recently, Chancellor George Osborne visited the district.
