A young hairdressing salon owner has become the only businesswoman from North Lancashire to reach the finals in her category of the Enterprise Vision Awards.
Sarah Jackson, 27, runs The Hair Spa in Bolton-le-Sands, and said that even as a pupil at Queen Elizabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdale, knew exactly what she wanted to do.
She said: “My long-held dream was to launch and run a successful salon which kept clients coming back time and time again. I wanted to bring standards of hair and beauty that you might expect to find in a big city to a rural business site.”
It is this determination coupled with an ability to put her plans into action that has impressed the judges of the EVA’s competition which recognises inspiring businesswomen across the North West.
Sarah started working at Angles hair salon in Carnforth at the age of 14, but she said it was working at David Frank in Lancaster that was the key to her success.
She added: “I learned such a lot there and I studied hairdressing for three years at Lancaster & Morecambe College.”
During her third year she made the big leap into business ownership, aged 19.
Voting for the EVAs closes on September 14.
