THREE arts organisations in the Lancaster district which learned they faced funding cuts earlier this year have been named among groups which have done the most to help economic growth.
The Storey Gallery, Folly and Peter Scott Gallery are among 12 contemporary visual arts groups highlighted in a newly published report.
But all three learned their Arts Council funding would be cut earlier this year and digital arts organisation Folly has since folded.
The Why Art Works report, commissioned by arts consortium North by North West (NbyNW), concludes that arts groups across Lancashire and Cumbria have become vital economic drivers in tough economic times, playing a key role in shaping perceptions and encouraging investment.
