Two city accountancy firms have joined forces.

Scott and Wilkinson of Dalton Square and Hartley and Co of Sun Street agreed a merger which will has seen Hartley staff moved to Scott and Wilkinson’s premises.

Until the merger, Hartley and Co was a general practice owned and run by Graham Hartley for 23 years.

Before setting up his own business Graham, a dad of three from Morecambe, worked with another Lancaster accountancy firm.

Scott and Wilkinson, a five partner firm, is one of the longest-established independent accountancy practices in the Lancaster district.

Its origins date back to 1918, although it was not until 1968, when two local firms merged, that the practice became Scott and Wilkinson.

Graham said: “I believe that the coming together of our two firms is a very positive move.

“In today’s economic environment it is imperative that clients receive the best possible advice. I am confident that the joining of the two firms will only serve to strengthen this ideal.”

Stuart Hinnigan, partner at Scott and Wilkinson, said: “We are delighted to welcome on board Graham and his clients. Due to our similar values, locality and client base, the two firms should work well together.

“I am very confident that we can continue to meet the needs of all our clients.” Scott and Wilkinson provide a range of accountancy and
business advisory services including taxation, accounts, audit, corporate finance and payroll.
