A Lancaster health club has invested £100,000 in top new gym facilities.

The Sandpiper Club hopes to build on Britain’s golden summer of sport with the refurbishment.

The club, based at the four-star Lancaster House hotel, has had a complete refurbishment to its gym area.

This includes around 30 new pieces of high-tech Star Trac equipment, including cardio stations with personalised screens and iPod ports.

The club, which is owned by the family-run English Lakes group, has made the investment to cater for Lancastrians who have been inspired to participate in sports and fitness following Britain’s outstanding summer of sport.

Sandra Gibson, manager of English Lakes’ health and fitness clubs, said: “This summer was a wonderful year for British sport.

“Many people will have been inspired to get fitter by watching the successes of our outstanding athletes.

“We have made a significant investment at the Sandpiper Club to ensure we are providing top notch Star Trac equipment to help Lancastrians fulfil their new fitness goals.”

The refurbished gym adds to the facilities on offer at the Sandpiper Club, which also include a 50ft swimming pool, sun shower, sauna, steam room, an outdoor hot tub, and a beauty and hair salon. The new facilities are fully installed and opened to the public
this week.
