Wayne Hemingway wants to bring glamour back to his hometown of Morecambe.
The design guru is hosting a Vintage by the Sea event in September which will see a one-day festival hosted to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the iconic Midland hotel.
The art deco hotel will be transformed into a “20thCentury playground” featuring live dance bands, gramophone DJs, hair and beauty salons and art and design workshops on Saturday, September 14.
The 52-year-old said: “When I remember back to my childhood, Morecambe was all about dancing, I remember my nan and my mother dancing on the pier there. There were cool nightclubs and cafes and it was all very glamorous.
“There are still parts of that in Morecambe and I want to bring a bit of it back.”
Matt Stanaway, General Manager at The Midland, said: “This year is a very special year for The Midland and it is great that Wayne Hemingway is returning to his roots and recognising how special the building is by bringing his hugely popular Vintage event to the hotel.”
