Police have confirmed that a man whose body was found on the beach at Middleton yesterday was a 49-year-old from Barrow.
The man’s body was found by a workman at Carr Lane, just before 8am on Tuesday.
The man who made the discovery was working for VolkerBrooks, who are based on White Lund and are currently carrying out work at the site laying ducting underneath the marshland for cables.
Police officers, including Crime Scene Investigation vehicles, were at the scene for several hours following the find.
HM Coastguard also assisted in the operation.
A police spokesman said there are no suspicious circumstances at this time and the man is yet to be named.
