Visitors to RSPB Leighton Moss at Silverdale can learn about the wildlife in their own garden as the charity’s Big Birdwatch returns.

Warden David Mower will give a talk after guests enjoy a two-course meal on Tuesday, January 14.

It is one of a number of events being held across Lancashire as part of the annual Birdwatch weekend, which runs on January 25 and 26.

Regarded as the world’s biggest garden wildlife survey, people are encouraged to count the birds in their garden or park for one hour over the weekend before telling the RSPB what they see.

For the first time this year, the organisation wants to hear about other wildlife activity in the district in a bid to create a better picture of what is happening to local nature.

People can register their findings at www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch.
