Bird of prey tale is a ripping yarn

Katy Cawkwell has been storytelling for 20 years across Britain and beyond.

She is well-known for unravelling complex narratives into compelling, glittering stories that linger in the mind long after they are told.

As part of Lancaster Arts City’s First Fridays programme, Katy will appear at the Storey Centre on Friday, February 6 to tell ‘The Falcon Bride’ - the epic tale of Hallgerd.

Beautiful, fierce and deadly, Hallgerd is not a woman to be taken lightly, ripping through husbands like a falcon through its prey.

But has she met her match in Gunnar, a true Viking hero?

These gripping episodes from the great Icelandic Saga of Njal are in turn darkly comic and tragically romantic, offering you a fascinating glimpse into pagan society in the land of fire and ice.

The show starts at 8pm and is aimed at adults, and is unsuitable for under 12s.
