FROM a hobby which began as a 15-year-old, former Lancaster police officer Bert Stenning has gone on to show exhibitions of his paintings to the public.
Mr Stenning has his latest work on show at Garstang Arts Centre this month.
The 69-year-old was born and educated in Lancaster before joining the Royal Navy at the age of 17.
After ten years he joined the police force, spending the next 27 years as part of Lancashire Constabulary in both uniform and CID roles at Lancaster, Garstang and Preston.
His final posting was to Lancaster University as police liaison officer, before retiring in 1997 to take up an office job in Lancaster, retiring fully in 2007.
Mr Stenning’s time is now devoted to painting and he has had a few exhibitions locally, mainly of steam railway and tram scenes.
His latest exhibition at Garstang Arts Centre includes more than 40 of his paintings and continues until the end of the month.
