PIE varieties such as mussel, spinach and bacon, butternut squash, blue cheese and leek, and a full English breakfast pie will all be on offer at Lancaster’s 6th annual beer and pie festival, which kicked off yesterday, Thursday.
A total of 36 ales and 20 different varieties of pies will be on offer at the White Cross, Penny Bank and Merchants pubs until Sunday.
Tim Tomlinson, licensee at the three pubs, said the festival had grown in popularity each year.
“I remain strongly of the opinion that Lancaster is a Mecca for cask ale lovers and we should be proud of the variety and quality of pubs and ales we have on offer,” he said.
“We have specifically invited all the CAMRA branches in the North West of England to come and see what Lancaster holds and hopefully extend the excellent reputation we already enjoy.
