A crew will film part of Jamaica Inn in the Lunesdale town over 12 days in October.
Some road closures will be in place during that time.
Jamaica Inn is a 19th century novel by Daphne du Maurier.
It is described as an eerie period piece set in 1820s Cornwall.
The plot of the original novel follows a group of murderous wreckers who run ships aground, kill the sailors and steal their loot.
Alfred Hitchcock made the first screen version in 1939.
