Award-winning TV historian to deliver lecture

TV historian Amanda Vickery will deliver the 2011 Iredell Lecture in History and Law at Lancaster University on November 3.

Amanda, who is professor of early modern history at Queen Mary University of London, will deliver a lecture entitled Burglary and the Englishman’s Castle.

Open to all, the event will take place in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Building, meeting rooms two and three, at 6pm. The reception will be open from 5pm.

A university spokesman said: “Amanda is an award-winning author who reviews for The Guardian, The Times Literary Supplement, and BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Review, Front Row and Woman’s Hour, and has written and presented several history series for BBC2 and BBC Radio 4.
