A group of talented district artists will be selling their work in aid of the Save Our Hospice campaign.
Meet the Makers, as the collection are known, will take over a unit of St Nicholas Arcades opposite Argos for two weekends in the run up to Christmas, starting on Friday, December 13.
There will be up to 15 different artists selling a wide range of handmade gifts to raise money for St John’s Hospice and help the Lancaster and Morecambe Newspapers appeal to raise £500,000 over the next year to make sure the Slyne Road charity is around for future generations.
The brainchilds of Meet the Makers, Jan Towlson and Colette Halstead, have been creating and selling their own work for the last five years.
Jan sells jewellery using lots of different objects like jigsaws, buttons, maps, shells, cords and ribbons while Colette, a successful glass artist, creates her pieces at her cottage and studio in Pilling.
Both sell their work at Lancaster galleries the Town House and Arteria.
Jan, from Nether Kellet, said: “Collete and I decided we didn’t want to make money from it and we’re passionate about doing things locally.
“So we wanted to support a local charity and knew St John’s Hospice needed the help.”
Other gifts available from artists from all over the district will include cushions, driftwood art, felt productions, ceramic gifts and paintings.
Meet the Makers will be in the unit from December 13 to December 15 and December 20 to 23.
