A Lancaster schoolgirl has won a competition to design a flag for the International Youth Games.

In the run up to the games, local primary schools were invited to help design a flag to mark the event.

Lancaster City Council received hundreds of entries and judging was an extremely tough job.

Annabelle Parker, seven, from Bowerham Community Primary School, impressed with her design, which portrays some of the sports involved in the games.

Annabelle has been invited to carry her flag in the opening ceremony, which takes place on Tuesday (July 23).

Athletes from the five countries taking part in the games will parade from Lancaster Castle, starting at 5.15pm, to Market Square for the official opening ceremony at 6pm.
