A new county organiser for Lancashire Boys & Girls Clubs (LABGC) has been appointed to replace Alan Donkin, who retired as county director just before Christmas following 25 years of service.
Adrian French has taken up the post of county organiser.
He started his career in youth work at Bolton Lads & Girls Club some 20 years ago as a volunteer.
After about two years Adrian left to gain his professional youth work qualification at Bradford Community College in Ilkley, and followed this with 18 years of youth work in North Yorkshire, both within the voluntary sector and local authority, eight years of which was in a senior management capacity.
Over this time Adrian developed an array of support services for young people and has a breadth of skills, knowledge and experience of project work with many targeted and at risk groups including young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), young carers, looked after children, young people with mental health issues and or challenging behaviour.
Over the past few days Adrian have been meeting with the LABGC team and getting up to speed with the range of personal, social development opportunities, activities and support services LABGC provide to youth clubs, projects and young people across Lancashire.
He said: “I look forward to meeting and working with many of you over the coming months, as I am sure you will have received information on LABGC’s up and coming events and activities for 2015.
“If you have any questions in relation to the programme, current services or believe there are services, projects, activities that you would like to see us provide, or would simply like to meet to discuss how we can support you then please do let me know.”
