A special group of Lancaster actors have been getting to grips with their latest roles in more ways than one.

The Shattering Images theatre company has added some muscle to its forthcoming show at The Dukes in the shape of professional wrestler Johnny Phere.

Johnny, also known as The Pyschotic Warrior, will be appearing in When. Will. I. Will. I. Be Famous at the venue on May 21 and 23. (Tickets from 01524 598500).

Phere, who has been a wrestler for 13 years, will be playing himself in a production inspired by television talent shows.

Just days before The Dukes play opens, he will also be seen on TV when he appears in the ITV series Weekend Escapes with Warwick Davis (on Friday, May 16).

In When. Will. I. Will. I. Be Famous, one of the cast is obsessed with wrestling and her dream is to share the ring with a professional which is where Johnny comes in. Some of the other characters in the play are based on the cast members’ obsessions with One Direction and X Factor.

Most of the cast are aged 16-40 and have learning needs.

Phere can also be seen in the wrestling ring this Sunday (May 11) at The Layton in Blackpool and on Sunday, June 1 at The Globe Arena in Morecambe.
