The Lounge in Lancaster has closed for up to eight weeks for an extensive refurbishment.
The late night bar and club in Penny Street closed on Saturday, and owner Grant Stringer, who opened The Lounge in around 2002, said the venue was “tired” and ready for a change.
He said: “I didn’t want to go over it with a small lick of paint, so I’ve decided on a few major changes.
“The layout of the ground floor is going to be changed so that the toilets are moved creating much more space in the bar.
“It will probably be around a third bigger downstairs.
“It will probably have a name change as well but we’ll be keeping the word ‘lounge’ somewhere in the name.
“It will still be heavy on cocktails and quality drinks, but we’ll maybe reduce the late night opening a bit and make it a lot more attractive across the board.
Mr Stringer, who also runs The Dalton Rooms in Dalton Square, Hustle and Bar 1725 in Lancaster, said he was aiming to re-open the bar around September 22.
