Lancaster restaurant open again
Luigi and Barbara outside their new restaurant, Molinari's in Church Street, Lancaster.
EXACTLY one month after the shock closure of Verdes restaurant in Lancaster, an Italian couple have re-opened the premises for business this week, creating up to 12 jobs.
Luigi and Barbara Molinari, originally from the Lake Como region of Northern Italy, opened Molinari’s in Church Street on Tuesday, February 13.
The couple, who also own Franco’s Restaurant in Longridge, have been running Italian restaurants for over 20 years and said they have been looking for some time for the right venue in Lancaster.
Luigi said: “When we heard that the lease for Verdes had become available we made sure we were first in the queue.
“We’ve spent nearly four weeks cleaning, painting and renewing the restaurant and kitchen, it really is looking great again.”

Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 10:52 PMWhat a highly literate and intelligent comment... To get back to the article, I wish Luigi and Barbara every success in this venture. I hate seeing empty shops and premises in the city centre, so delighted to hear the old Verdes has been so quickly turned around. I was unimpressed with Verdes when I went in a few months ago, so hopefully Molinari's will be a step up from that! Good luck, and I look forward to dining there very soon!
