A North Lancashire town will burst into colour and creativity when artists exhibit their work in the street.

Preparations are underway for the Carnforth Art Festival and Street Gallery.

Artwork produced in various media will be on show from Monday (August 19) until August 31, when local businesses will display various creations in their shop windows or inside their premises.

Bunting designed and coloured by children from Carnforth North Road Primary School at events in class and the library will be put up in the town square.

A free quiz sheet will also be available from several shops with a £25 gift voucher for the winning entrant.

The art festival itself takes place over the Bank Holiday Weekend, with Lancashire artists showing off their work in the town square.

There will also be music and children’s activities between 10am and 4pm, followed by a film show at the Carnforth station heritage centre.

The event has been sponsored by Carnforth and District Chamber of Trade and Carnforth Town Council.

A new website to keep residents and visitors updated with events in the town will also be launched at the event.
