Talent on Show - words, pictures and video!

A SHOW "more fun than Stravros Flatley" and "more diverse than Diversity" was promised at Saturday's Talent on Show - and that's what we got.

The show, organised by the Lancaster Guardian, saw the great and the good take to the stage at Lancaster's Grand Theatre in front of a panel of judges.

Lancaster Royal Grammar School saxophonist, Max Williams, 12, was up first and pretty much set the standard for the rest of the evening.

Compered by The Visitor's chief reporter Greg Lambert, the show included some top notch talent from Lancaster, Morecambe, Cumbria and even Rochdale.

Acrobats, singers, dancers, moonwalkers and a beat boxer made their way into the grand final - there was even a performance from the Voice of 2006 winner, Mike Haywood.

There was little sibling rivalry when sisters Lily and Grace Turner performed separately for a chance of bagging the all-important top spot.

Seventeen-year-old Lily's song and dance number to I'm Feeling Good got a big thumbs up from the judges, as did Grace's theatrical version of The Girl in 14G.

Young ballet dancer Erin Whalley was cuter than cute as she pirouetted around the stage as a Flower Fairy, and cheeky duo Maddie Acutt and Anya Briggs had the Cockney accents nailed in their song and dance to Oliver classic Consider Yourself.

With choreography by last year's winner Holly Johnstone, acrobatic dancer Hayley Stubbs' French-themed routine was tres, tres bien.

The remaining singers were also on top form, with great performances from Charlotte Howarth, who sang Part of That World from A Little Mermaid, Penrith's Anna Willison-Holt (loved the sparkly dress!) with Mary Poppins' A 'Spoonful of Sugar and Adele-inspired Hannah Taylor's White Horse by Taylor Swift.

Young Michael Jackson fan Ben Salem returned this year for a second bash at winning the contest - after his performance of Earth Song at the show last year.

Ben delighted the crowd with his killer moves and marvellous moonwalking.

Giving Britain's Got Talent winners Diversity a fair run for their money was Morecambe's own dance act, Scene.

Decked in trilbies, waistcoats and braces, the four-piece impressed the crowd and judges with their imaginative routine.

Carnforth High School's Amy Jo-Clough sported a cute retro dress while hitting all the high notes in an impressive Duffy medley and Miley Cryus fan Clarissa Pildiswyj, came all the way from Rochdale to delight the crowd with her version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah - taking the runner-up prize.

But it was qualified bricklayer, Jack Brennand from Lancaster who won the show and walked away with the prize money - for his impressive beat boxing act.

Smoothly segueing his way from beat boxing Billie Jean, Stand By Me to the Corrie theme tune, it wasn't just Jack's massive entourage of friends and family who were up on their feet.
