Opera coming to a screen near you

THE Dukes Cinema will be playing host to London's Royal Opera House once again this month with a live screening of one of the world's best loved operas, La Traviata.

Verdi's classic opera will be streamed live from Covent Garden on Tuesday in another of the venue's popular satellite broadcasts.

A star cast including American soprano Rene Fleming and Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja join the company of The Royal Opera in this revival of Richard Eyre's highly acclaimed 1994 production.

Grammy Award winner Rene Fleming will be playing the alluring courtesan Violetta Valery who breaks society's conventions for a life with Alfredo Germont.

La Traviata will be screened at 7pm. Tickets priced 12 and 10 can be booked in advance from the Dukes box office on 01524 598500 or online at www.dukes-lancaster.org.
