Bands ready to set city rocking
IN JUST two weeks Lancaster will become a music lovers' playground as more than 60 bands get set to perform in 18 venues across the city.
Prepare yourself for an explosion of sound and energy as blues, rock, funk, punk, folk, jazz, shanty, indie, pop and dance unite Lancaster's vibrant music scene in one jam-packed weekend.

The event, kicks off at 2.30pm on Friday October 9 at the John 'O Gaunt with Half a Day, and ends at various venues across the city at 11pm on Sunday October 11.
Free festival programmes, including a map of the city,
pinpointing each venue and performance times, will be available from the venues and the new Visitor Information Centre over the weekend.
Whatever your taste in music, you're guaranteed to find something that floats your boat, and on that note, the festival also includes a maritime theme with The Three Mariners, The George and Dragon, The Wagon and Horses and even the Maritime Museum hosting performances from Richard Grainger, Derek Gifford and The Keelers.
Saturday afternoon at The Park in Prospect Street will feature a full day of indie/ pop presented by Barnbox Records. From 3.15pm you can catch performances from some of Lancaster's finest, including Benni Beard, Homemade Lemonade, The Adventures of Loki and How's My Pop.
International acts such as mountain dulcimer legend Butch Ross, Nashville's Van Preston, and the Isle of Man's Red Gap take to various city stages, and London popsters Vandeville Falls will also be "popping in" where they're least expected.
With folk at the Gregson Centre all day Saturday, The Kirris Riviere Blues Band, The Swamp Dogs, The Honka Monka Club, Tantrum and York's Gypsy Bill Williams – you're barely scratching the surface.
The Dukes plays host to a More Music showcase featuring Pete Moser, Matt Robinson, Ben McCabe and Dave Shooter on Friday night (7/5), followed by "harmonic, folk-tinged Lancaster rock group, Mostly Hums on Saturday (7/5).The band will also launch their fourth studio album 'Jump the Shark'.
The Merchants, The Robert Gillow, The Penny Bank, The Brit, LA1, The Pub, The Stonewell Tavern, The Golden Lion and The Ring O' Bells will all be on the festival's map, with plenty of great food and drink to keep you going throughout.

Morecambe Library will be hosting Mercury Award 2009 winner hip-hop artist Speech Debelle, next Monday.
