THERE is something quintessentially English about a good village inn serving proper pub grub.
But it is increasingly a simple pleasure under threat, with pub closures running at 29 a week nationally.
Fortunately, the tradition seems to be alive and well at The Greyhound in Low Road, Halton. Landlords Colin and Tracey Scott re-opened the pub in September, and on a rainy Saturday night my girlfriend Becky and I decided to sample their new menu.
On arrival, at around 6pm, the pub was fairly quiet but we received a pleasant welcome.
