GARDEN lovers are putting the finishing touches to their lawns and flower beds ahead of this year’s Morecambe in Bloom competition.
The organising committee is hoping to attract a record number of entries for the new-look event.
Entry forms are now available from a number of different locations in the resort, with amateur gardeners invited to enter up to nine different categories, ranging from the best garden or terraced frontage to outstanding hanging basket or street.
This year the committee is introducing a new form of judging for the competition, which will reveal more of what the judges think of their entries.
Committee chair, Beryl Spelling, said: “Over the many years the competition has been run, we have always been impressed by the very high standards of many of the entries.
“Until now we have only awarded trophies and certificates to those with the highest three marks in each class, often leaving other entrants with exceptionally high standards but no idea of the appreciation felt by the judges for their presentation.”
