A charismatic performer and composer from Italy will perform alongside a Lancastrian as the Lancaster International Concerts Series kicks into high gear tonight (November 20).
Leader of 100 cellos, Giovanni Sollima will join Lancaster pianist Kathryn Stott for a night of classical music at the Lancaster University Great Hall.
Kathryn first heard a CD of Sollima’s music 15 years ago and was struck by the beauty of his playing. The two artists then met quite by chance in Tokyo and have been friends ever since.
The Sicilian is Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s artist in residence for a series of concerts during April 2015, and around the globe is an inspiration to many musicians.
He recently made his Australian debut on tour with Australian Chamber Orchestra to great audience and critical acclaim.
Sollima and Stott will perform a programme including Chopin and Beethoven.
