Book Club: Author visits Lancaster

A man who has visited more record shops than anybody in the world is coming to Lancaster.

Graham Jones will be promoting his latest book ‘Strange Requests & Comic Tales from Record Shops’.

During 30-plus years working as a record company sales rep, Graham has collected a vast number of funny stories and anecdotes.

He relates the best of them in his book, as told to him by those behind the record shop counter.

Graham has also made a film, ‘Last Shop Standing’, inspired by his book of the same name, which features Paul Weller, Johnny Marr and Richard Hawley. The film charts the rapid rise of record shops in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, the influence of the chart, the underhand deals, the demise of vinyl and the rise of the CD as well as new technologies.

You can find information about the film at www.last
shopstanding.com.

Graham will be upstairs at the Robert Gillow in Market Street, on Tuesday, August 20, at 7pm. He’ll be showing his film and signing copies of his book. All welcome.
