COUNCIL chiefs are to spend £254,000 of taxpayers’ money on replacing boilers at Lancaster Town Hall.
The £254,000 quote from Pinington Limited was the lowest received by Lancaster City Council during a tendering exercise. but exceeds the original £200,000 estimate for the works.
It comes on top of a fee paid to consultant engineers Norfolk Property Services (NPS), which was commissioned by the council in February 2011 to conduct a feasibility report on the town hall boilers.
The council has yet to clarify how much NPS was paid for the report.
