Teenager injured in Garstang fork lift truck accident

A TEENAGER is in a critical condition after an accident in Garstang on Tuesday afternoon.
The boy was travelling on a fork lift truck which was being driven back into the Austin Walmsley Ltd yard on Leachfield Industrial Estate in the town when the vehicle tipped over.

The teen, from the Blackburn area, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered serious back injuries.

He was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where he underwent an operation on his injuries.

A joint investigation with the police and Health and Safety Executive has begun.

Anyone who has any information about the incident, which happened at about 1.15pm, is asked to ring police on 01524 63333 quoting log number LC-20080513-0807.
