Patisserie plans look set to get go-ahead
Controversial plans to create a patisserie in Ullswater Road are expected to be given the go ahead at a Lancaster City Council planning committee meeting on Monday.
The planning application for 126 Ullswater Road, submitted by Mr Richard Dow, received 24 letters of objection and five letters of support with regard to the impact the business would have on the Freehold area.
Objectors cited an increase in traffic and pressure on parking spaces, an increase in late night disturbance, and noise from smokers outside the premises as their main causes for concern.
Concern was also raised over the possibility of the patisserie being turned into a wine bar in the future.
The patisserie would provide dining facilities for up to 50 people over two floors, with a small outdoor area at the front and, subject to planning permission, would open from 11am to 9pm, seven days a week.
Planning officers have recommended that the application be granted subject to conditions including soundproofing, the removal of outdoor furniture when the premises are closed, the restriction of outdoor loudspeakers and odour control.
